FAQ

Things you might be wondering…

What does a 1-to-1 session look like?

If it’s your first session, I will give a full explanation of everything you need to know about the technique and what to expect.

We can discuss any intention you have for the session.

The breathwork is done lying down on your back, knees pointing at the ceiling, head on a cushion/pillow.

The active phase of the breathwork is approximately 30 minutes long using an active inhale and a soft exhale. This is followed by a 10 minute deeply relaxing integration phase to allow anything that shifted during the session to settle.

We close the session by grounding back into the now, with optional sharing about your experience.

Is there anything I should avoid before and after a session?

Before the session, avoid any consciousness-altering substances, alcohol, caffeine, and heavy meals (for two hours, you don’t want to feel full of food when breathing).

After the session, try not to arrange anything immediately following the session. Sometimes integration of the experience can take a little extra time, you want to be able to be gentle with yourself.

Make sure after the session you drink plenty of water since breathwork is very detoxifying.

After the session you are safe to drive home.

What should I bring and wear?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing, ideally with minimal restriction around the waist.

Bring an open mind, leaving behind any expectations if you can.

Bring an intention for the session, if you wish. Or you can let the breath lead you.

You can bring your water bottle, and maybe a journal so you can write down anything that came up during the session.

Mats, pillows and blankets are all provided.

Is breathwork safe for me?

While breathwork is generally safe, there are certain contraindications to consider. It may not be suitable for individuals with:

  • Severe asthma or respiratory conditions
  • Heart disease or significant cardiovascular issues
  • Epilepsy or a history of seizures
  • Serious psychiatric conditions, including psychosis or bipolar disorder
  • Pregnancy, especially in the first trimester
  • Acute physical injuries

If you have a more serious medical, psychiatric, or physical health condition, or have recently been hospitalized, it is critical to consult with your medical doctor before beginning breathwork.

When practiced under proper guidance, breathwork is a powerful tool for healing, regulation, and transformation.
